The Curve

THE CURVE DAMANSARA is a sprawling, spacious mall (measuring 652,000 sq ft) has been an integral part of the retail landscape since starting out in December 2004. Being especially popular amongst urban youth and families alike, the Curve sits amongst good company with the likes of IKEA, IKANO, and e@Curve connected to it via walkways. The mall’s layout is uncomplicated and well-organised, with an open-air walkway that has become the focal point of the precinct peppered with cafés, restaurants, bistros and a bar.

The mall is anchored by department store MJ by Metrojaya. The clothes here are fun, fresh and a little funkier than the styles one usually expects from normal Metrojaya outlets. Other mini anchors within the Curve are Malaysia’s well-established bookstores Borders and MPH, Cathay Cineplex (that puts in a much appreciated effort in screening more international art house films), electrical and electronics dealer HSL Digital Lifestyle and also Tesco Hypermarket. For non-retail activities, there is the Fitness First gym with state-of-the-art gym equipment and trainers at hand and also Red Box Karaoke where you can sing the blues away.

Usually packed during the weekends, the Curve strives to be a family-friendly mall by providing strollers at the concierge and also a play area in the children’s section on the first floor. In addition to that, a baby care room is also provided for the convenience of parents out on family shopping trips

How to get to The Curve

You can easily get to The Curve by taxi; though getting a taxi back to your hotel often is a hassle as taxi drivers try to earn big bucks from naive tourists that venture all the way out to Mutiara Damansara. You can get to The Curve by public transport; there are RapidKL busses that depart from KL Sentral to The Curve (and to nearby mall 1 Utama). You can also take the train to LRT station Kelana Jaya. From here you can either take the bus or (a cheaper) taxi. There is also a free shuttle bus, but that one time we tried to take it the shuttle bus never showed up.

How to get to KL SOGO

SOGO is located along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (and Jalan Raja Laut). You can travel by metro (LRT/Light Rail Transit) to Bandaraya LRT station. SOGO is linked to the subway station by sky bridge to the 1st floor. Another way to get here is by monorail (this line also goes through Kuala Lumpur city center). If you get out at Monorail station Medan Tuanku it is only a 5 minute walk to SOGO (just walk towards the main section where you see the Tune Hotel , then to the left past Maju Junction towards Pertama Complex. From there you will see SOGO at the next section.
